Gothic Romance....Fall's Dramatic, Wild, Mysterious Trend!

This is a look that I have always been in love with and I am so excited that this dark trend has hit the catwalks hard this season.  The beauty of the gothic romance, with its draping dark capes, lace and flowing floor length dresses, is that it makes you want to run across moors, dance through mysterious woods and walk along mile long beaches with cold salty air blowing through your hair.

So I decided that it was time to go out into the heart of the northern countryside to one of my favourite spots and show my interpretation of this trend.

High Summer Hair and Makeup!

This is one of my favourite hair and makeup looks that I have created and worn this summer. Its so easy to create and looks fabulous for any summer festivals, gigs, parties and holidays.

Just twist a piece of your own hair, bring it across your forehead and pin into place, to create the band effect.  This looks great with wavy, curly or straight hair.  Plus it adds just something extra when looking for something different to do with your hair.  If you're like me and tend to go a bit crazy at gigs and get slightly on the warm side.  you can always take thin bobble or grip to scrunch your hair up into! (see bottom picture)

I created the makeup using 'BarryM Dazzle Dust' pots.
These are great because of their range of colours, they are easy to blend and inexpensive in comparison to other makeup products.
'Rimmel's' liquid eyeliner is one of the easiest to use for creating detail along the lid and around the eye.  I love to add detail in the corners of the eyes, such as the dots, lines, fleur-de-lis, stars.......

Remember the details are what make a look unique!

Austin Powers Love.....with a twist!

For Many seasons now the 1960's trend has been a revival, however it has graced the catwalk so many times now and inspired so many designers that every season we can pick the best bits of it, and still be on trend.

My love for sixties fashion has been around for as long as I started reading Vogue!  I've had this dress for years now, and it always makes an appearance out of my wardrobe every now and again when I'm feeling in particularly 'groovy' mood (I bought it because it reminded me of the dress Liz Hurley wore in the first Austin Powers Film).  However to add a quirky twist, I juxtaposed this timeless item with some Jeffrey Campbell Studded Platforms, a silver 'warrior collar/necklace', Chanel earings and an assortment of my favourite vintage rings.

Sixties hair is still massive through to next season, so this beehive up do adds that extra touch to the outfit.  However, this is a classic style that would add a great touch to any outfit, and one I use many times in my blogging pictures.

DIY Studding!!!!

If you hadn't guessed already, the origin of my name 'Style Studette' comes from the fact that I do have a little obsession with with Studs on my apparel and shoes.  My boyfriend thinks I have issues, but he also thinks i'm crazy because I own over 60 pairs of shoes, so i think I'll avoid his style advice!  Over the last two/three years studding has become massive with designers such as Balmain, Burberry, Versace to name but a few all embracing the trend.  Even on the high street Topshop has had pieces customised with the 'metal bling'.

The fact is that a studded leather jacket, shorts, boots can make a ordinary day time outfit look unique and different.  But even on the high street and in small boutiques, it is hard to get hold of these items as they sell out quickly, plus they are always on the the pricier side.

Hence why I started customising my own.  I just took items that I already had, such as my leather jacket, and put the on the shoulders.  It takes a little bit of time, but it is so so easy and trust me once you start you'll become addicted! I also took it a step further adding safety pins to a suit jacket as well as studs.  I'm especially proud of this item.  It was a couple of nights work, but well worth it, as it is such a statement and unique piece!
I buy all my studs from www.studsandpunks.co.uk and my safety pins from first4numbers, as I found these are the cheapest places.  However remember to check out your local haberdashery store or market stall to get some other great customising items!

The perfect statement shoes can make an outfit, hence I love to draw and design my own perfect fantasy shoes.  I designed these to go with the perfect pastel/candy outfit!

Candy love!

I've loved wearing the candy pastels that have been so hot this season.  I've just felt like I could have opened a candy store filled with pastel clothes and shoes.  I managed to create this high summer outfit for very little money.  I took this vintage pink Joop skirt (part of a suit) that belongs to my mum, (N.B. I steal a lot of my vintage designer pieces from my mums wardrobe. A great tip, find someone stylish who has worn trends in the past, and raid their wardrobe!).  I matched this with a simple £7.99 H&M mint green vest, and some white leather and cork wedges which i found in a sale in 'Forever New'.  Accessorising outfits with some 'Jackie O' sunnies, pearls and some classic Chanel earrings really adds something extra.  Another great tip to making an outfit look more classic and chic is by accessorising.

I love mixing Studs and leather with a chic plain dress.  Im all about juxtaposing different styles of fashion together to create a unique look.  I customised my leather jacket myself with studs on the shoulders.  This is something I would highley recommend.  Studs have become massive in the last few years and i have become addicted to customising items of clothes with them.  It creates a designer look at a fraction of the price!  Also a pair of studded shoes is a must!  Never too Jazzy!
